Get to know this year's Alpenglow Educational Assistants better!
I am delighted and deeply grateful for the opportunity to join the Alpenglow community. It has been inspiring to see Rudolf Steiner's philosophies being integrated in a gentle and enriching manner. Each day I anticipate morning walks and afternoons spent painting with the children. What a treasure it is to catch a glimpse of the child's perspective. Over the past decade I have had the pleasure of working with community based not for profits in Edmonton assisting families from diverse backgrounds. I enjoyed studying Anthropology and Sociology, but more recently I have become intrigued by the mystic realm of Feng Shui, Archetypal Dreams and Tarot. I look forward to learning, growing and discovering with everyone at Alpenglow.

I fell in love with western Canada following a year long teaching exchange from my home country of England to Port Hardy, Vancouver Island back in '92. I moved back to Port Hardy in the summer of 2006 with my wife, Natasha Miles, and lived there for three years working as an educational assistant along with a multitude of other jobs. We moved to the West Kootenay with our SPCA collie/lab dog Bonny in 2009, setting up a small bed & beakfast business and registering as a farm, keeping honey bees. Tasky, another collie/lab dog joined us from Trail SPCA, keeping us entertained and joined us for all adventures through the summer and winter. I worked again as an EA in Nakusp and New Denver for the seven years we lived, skied and ran there. Our lives were put on temporary hold when I was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer in the summer of 2015, but recovered well, to move to the exciting, athletic town of Canmore in the summer of 2016. It is a great priveledge to be working at Alpenglow school as an EA and look forward to the work and play which lie ahead. You will often see me pounding the streets or trails with my running shoes on, two dogs by my side.
