October 2022 Message from ACES
Hello Alpenglow Families,
Where did our first month of school go? It's hard to imagine that just over a month ago we were all finishing up our last days of summer break and getting our families ready to move back into the school routine. It is so beautiful to see all the students moving through their day and settling into the rhythm of Alpenglow this year.
As we roll into October, we are starting to 'feel' our community come back together. It started with our Welcome Ceremony, and our Welcome Tea, and soon we will gather together at our beautiful Lantern Festival and Martinmas Play, and then at the beginning of December, our magical Winterfest event will be back! With these festivals, there is need for helping hands to make them run smoothly, please consider taking a shift or two to help out. You can take a look here at our volunteer page for a link to all the opportunities available.
We will be looking for help in the near future for our Lantern Festival and Martinmas Play on November 8th. Martinmas celebrates the gentleness and kindness we hold within us and the ability to shine light and warmth unto others. The grade 2/3 class is now preparing the Martinmas play. Following the play you will be invited to enter the forest, walking and singing together along the candle lit path carrying our own lanterns. This is a quiet and meditative celebration bringing to life the strength of our own individual light, signing bright amongst the darkness. This is the festival that has hooked many families to Alpenglow. The story of Martinmas and the beauty of the lanterns guiding our community through the forest together celebrating our gifts through song. We hope your family enjoys the magic of this evening and it comes to be one of the favorite festivals in your family as well.
