May 23, 2019 Update

A lot has been happening these past few months for our Playground Committee.
  • We are a proud recipient of the TD Friends of the Environment Grant for $20,000.  This huge amount of support is so greatly appreciated - thank you TD Canada Trust for supporting Communities and the Environment.  Our total funds raised to date is now $101,000!  We are 1/3 of the way to our goal of $300,000.
  • Our Playground committee chair had the opportunity to meet with our new MLA Miranda Rosin to discuss our project.  Miranda was very impressed with our school philosophy and was honored to voice her support for our project to our new cabinet ministers.
  • We recommended to award our project design and construction contract to Wilco/Earthscape.  They provide engaging dynamic play structures and expertise in natural playground design and installation.
  • We have spent hours discussing layout and design features taking into consideration everything from budget, phased construction, drainage, child capacity, sight lines, horticulture, and the list goes on.
What can you expect to see in the month of June?
  • a layout and basic design of the space provided by Wilco
  • images of play structures within our budget for the space provided by Earthscape
  • a stakeholder engagement night: an opportunity to gather and provide feedback on the space prior to construction
  • fingers crossed - a successful grant application to the CFEP through the Government of Alberta for up to $!25,000
  • volunteer calls for relocation of the gaga ball pit and site work permitted to be done by our community prior to construction scheduled for mid August
